  2.             MAIN MENU HELP
  3.  
  4. Select the desired option using the
  5. cursor keys and press ENTER.  Optionally,
  6. you may "click" the left mouse button on
  7. the desired option.
  8.  
  9. The first letter of each option works as
  10. a "hot-key".  You may also invoke an
  11. option simple by pressing its correspond-
  12. ing hotkey.
  13. [PackSel]
  14.                      PACKET SELECTION HELP
  15.  
  16. To select a packet to open for reading, simply use the cursor keys
  17. to highlight the desired packet and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  18. you may "click" on the desired packet with the left mouse button.
  19.  
  20. Paging through a large file list is possible by pressing PAGE UP and
  21. PAGE DOWN.  Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to scroll
  22. up/down as necessary.

  24. Pressing ESCAPE will exit MR/2 and return you to the OS/2 command
  25. line.  Use ALT-E to enter message w/o an existing packet.
  26.  
  27. Also, ALT-C will take you into your editor for modifications of the
  28. MR2.INI file.  ALT-P edits the Packet Path.  Alt-N relists packets.
  29.  
  30. While any packet is highlighted, you may use ALT-D to delete the
  31. marked packet (after confirmation) or ALT-R to rename it.

  33.                 FILE DISPLAY HELP
  34.  
  35. To move about the file currently displayed, use any of
  36. the following keys:
  37.  
  38.     PAGE DOWN       To move forward one screen.
  39.     PAGE UP         To move backward one screen.
  40.     DOWN ARROW      To scroll down one line.
  41.     UP ARROW        To scroll up one line.
  42.     RIGHT ARROW     To scroll the view right.
  43.     LEFT ARROW      To scroll the view left.
  44.     HOME            To jump to the beginning.
  45.     END             To display the end.
  46.     spacebar        Page forward - exit if at end.
  47.     ESCAPE          Exit the current display.

  50.                    EDIT MESSAGE HEADER HELP
  51.  
  52. Edit the message header so that the To, Subject, Conference, Privacy
  53. and tagline are as you desire.  When all data is correct, press F10
  54. to "accept" or "save" the information, press ESCAPE to cancel the
  55. message.
  56.  
  57. For replies, the F2 key can be used to toggle the TO file between
  58. the original message's sender and receiver.  The default is to
  59. address the message to the original sender.  You can see the message
  60. header you are replying to at the top of the screen (if you are
  61. replying).

  64.  
  65.  The following keys are available while reading messages:
  66.  
  67.  ENTER/+ Move forward one message         P - Print to "prn" device

  70.    K     Kill the current reply (reply conference ONLY)

  75.    L     Find PREVIOUS match for current text search
  76.    X     Exit MR/2 fast - without cleanup, on confirmation

  87.           CONFERENCE SELECTION HELP

  89. To select a conference for reading, simply
  90. use the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  91. conference and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  92. you may "click" on the desired conference with
  93. the left mouse button.

  95. Paging through a large conference list is
  96. possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
  97. Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
  98. scroll up/down as necessary.

  100. You may search for text in ALL conferences from
  101. here.  Press ALT-F for the search form.
  102.  
  103. Pressing ESCAPE will exit conference selection
  104. and return you to the Packet's main menu.

  106. The number of messages in each conference is
  107. displayed next to the conference name.

  109.              SEARCH CRITERIA ENTRY
  110.  
  111. To search for a text string, simply enter the text
  112. to match and press ENTER.
  113.  
  114. The search is case insensitive; it will find the
  115. specified text ignoring any any differences in the
  116. case of individual characters.
  117.  
  118. When a message is found that contains the specified
  119. text, it will be displayed with the first matching
  120. line displayed on the second line of the display.

  122.           MESSAGE SELECTION HELP
  123.  
  124. To select a message for reading, simply use
  125. the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  126. message and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  127. you may "click" on the desired message with
  128. the left mouse button.

  141. If you wish to exit MR/2 at this time.
  142. press ENTER.  This will bypass all
  143. MR/2's cleanup functions and return to
  144. the current packet at a later time.

  146. If you do not wish to exit at this
  147. time, press ESCAPE.  You will be
  148. returned to view the more messages.
  149.  
  150. If you exit now, next time you invoke
  151. MR/2, you will be informed of the
  152. existence of a "previous" package and
  153. asked if you would like to continue
  154. here.  Answer YES (use the ENTER key)
  155. to read the packet, NO (use ESCAPE) to
  156. exit.
  157. [PREVREP]
  158.        PREVIOUS REPLIES EXIST HELP
  159.  
  160. MR/2 has found that the packet directory
  161. contains replies from a previously session.
  162. These could be legitimate replies from an
  163. unfinished packet, or they may have already
  164. been uploaded.
  165.  
  166. If you would like to keep the existing
  167. replies - simply press ENTER.
  168.  
  169. If you would like to remove all previous
  170. replies  -  press ESCAPE and MR/2 will
  171. proceed with a fresh, empty reply file.
  172. [PREVPACK]
  173.       PREVIOUS PACKET EXISTS HELP
  174.  
  175. MR/2 has found that the work directory
  176. contains remnants of a previously opened
  177. packet.  This could have resulted from
  178. a previous "Fast Exit", or even a system
  179. error.
  180.  
  181. If you would like to investigate the
  182. existing packet files - simply press
  183. ENTER.
  184.  
  185. If you would like to remove the previous
  186. packet's messages  -  press ESCAPE and
  187. MR/2  will allow you to select a new
  188. packet for reading.
  189. [BULSEL]
  190.            BULLETIN SELECTION HELP
  191.  
  192. To select a bulletin for reading, simply use
  193. the cursor keys to highlight the desired
  194. bulletin and then press ENTER.  Optionally,
  195. you may "click" on the desired bulletin with
  196. the left mouse button.
  197.  
  198. Paging through a large bulletin list is
  199. possible by pressing PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN.
  200. Also, the arrow keys will cause the display to
  201. scroll up/down as necessary.

  203. Pressing ESCAPE will exit bulletin selection
  204. and return you to the packet's main menu.

  209. as KILLED.  This will prevent
  210. it from being sent to the
  211. target mail door.

  246.               TAG STEALING AND EDITING
  247.  
  248. MR/2 has selected a line from the current message as the
  249. most likely "tagline".  This line is displayed for your
  250. editing before being appended to the tagline file.  Make
  251. any necessary or desired changes and press ENTER to save
  252. the new tag.  Press CANCEL to abort the stealing process.
  253.  
  254. If the tagline MR/2 has chosen is not the line desired,
  255. you may use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through
  256. the lines of the message.  Once the desired line is
  257. displayed, make any desired changes and press ENTER to
  258. save it.
  259. [JUMPLAST]
  260.             JUMPING TO YOUR LAST READ MESSAGE
  261.  
  262. This option takes advantage of the "bookmark" feature of
  263. MR/2.  Your last position in the packet is remembered and
  264. saved as extended attributes when you exit.  You now have
  265. the option of jumping directly to this position.
  266.  
  267. If you wish not to be "jumped" to this message, press
  268. ESCAPE and the normal main menu will be displayed.
  269.  
  270. If you do wish for MR/2 to place you at your last known
  271. position, press ENTER.

  283. Fill in a text string to use in the search.  This string may
  284. contain spaces and the search is case-insensitive (e.g., "CAT"
  285. find "cat").
  286.  
  287. To search for more than one string at a time, separate the
  288. search strings with a backslash "\".
  289.  
  290. Soundex searching is requested by proceeding a search string
  291. with an apersand "&".  The soundexing algorithm is very "loose",
  292. so soundexing should be used only on longer words (not OS/2, but
  293. Windows will work nicely).
  294.  
  295. Example:   CTOS\&windows\OS/2
  296.  
  297. will find all messages containing either the text "CTOS", "OS/2"
  298. or anything that "sounds like" windows (i.e., windoze will match).
  299. [BBSSEL]
  300.           NO PACKET - BBS NAME SELECTION
  301.  
  302. Select from the displayed BBS names to enter a message
  303. when no packet currently exists.  The BBS's listed are
  304. all those from which MR/2 has been used to read QWK
  305. packets.  When a packet is opened, MR/2 copies the
  306. control data for the source BBS to a BBS.cfg file in
  307. the MR/2 home directory.
  308. [PICKTAG]
  309.                   TAG LINE SELECTION
  310.  
  311. All currently available taglines are displayed for your
  312. selection.  Use the "page" keys to move through the
  313. file a screen at a time, or the arrow keys to scroll.
  314.  
  315. Highlight the desired tagline and press ENTER to select
  316. it.  To cancel the tagline selection, simply press ESCAPE.
  317. [FILLSAVE]
  318.                    SAVE FILE NAME
  319.  
  320. Enter the name of the file to append the currently
  321. displayed message to.  For a list of existing save files,
  322. press F2.
  323. [SAVESEL]
  324. Select the name of the file to append the current message
  325. to.  You may used the "page" keys to page through this list,
  326. or the cursor keys to scroll through it.  Press ENTER to
  327. select any name.
  328.  
  329. Press CANCEL to exit this screen without selecting a name.
